Cones are ruled surfaces generated from a vertex and a curve, for all the straight lines that pass through the vertex and a point on the curve. The simplest case is the elliptical cone of the reduced equation
which
contains as a special case the circular right-angled cone (generated by
the revolution of a straight line around an axis that cuts it). |
