The Observatory is carrying out a new survey in order to update the information collected two years ago. This year the survey was delivered to over 1000 technological universities along Europe.

Introduction
The survey is meant to have an overview of the advances made by European technological universities towards Education for Sustainable Development. This is the second edition of the survey; the first was made in 2006 with the participation of 51 Universities. If you are one of those 51 Institutions who completed the first survey, you can see your previous answers, please visit the SURVEY section: "Survey: Behind the scenes"
The questionnaire asks about the introduction of sustainability in the University at official level, in the curricula, at under and post-graduated levels, and in administration in campus areas. You make take a look at the questionnaire first before accessing the online form in order to start gathering the information required.
For your convenience, we have created an online platform where you can complete and submit the survey.

This year, a new EESD International Conference will be held in Graz, Austria in September and it will be hosted by Technological University of Graz: “EESD 2008 - Bridging the Gap”.
The "Leitmotiv" of the EESD 2008 is "Bridging the Gap". The general assumption on which the conference is based is that sustainable development has by now reached a status as the governing principle of the 21st century development pathway. It is now the time to lay the groundwork for actual implementation and integration of this principle into the day to day practice of the education of engineers. This requires bridging the gap between different stakeholders, different activities in education and between current education and future challenges for engineers.

1st Observatory Report

The EESD Report 2006 identifies the extent that sustainabilty is embedded in European engineering education. This is the first progress report since the Declaration of Barcelona (2004). The Report also provides support to the UNESCO Decade on ESD (2005- 2014). You can download it here.
A new Observatory Report is currently under development, it will be nourish by the results of the SURVEY and is scheduled to be ready by September 2008.
