President's Welcome

The Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) is a public institution dedicated to higher education and research that specializes in the fields of architecture, science and engineering. Our schools and research centers are known, nationally and internationally, for the education and training of professionals and for research in these areas.

Our university is forward-looking and seeks to teach high quality technical courses that are responsive to the training needs and requirements of traditional, evolving and newly-developing production sectors, including aeronautics, photonics, supercomputing, bioengineering, water and energy, all within the scope of the European Higher Education and Research Areas.

We are fully engaged in the country's technological progress; the quality of our research is recognized world-wide. This in turn informs the education and training of researchers who will be capable of facing future technological challenges. Our substantial capacity for technology transfer assures that the knowledge and research that we generate has a real-world impact in terms of innovation and technological development, especially in Catalonia, Spain and Europe.
