BIORENEW is the short name for the research project "White Biotechnology for added value products from renewable plant polymers: Design of tailor-made biocatalysts and new industrial bioprocesses", this is an Integrated Project (IP) funded by the EC with participation of 3 Research Institutes, 11 Universities and 12 Companies from 13 European countries.

The Paper and Graphic Research Group (CIPAGRAF) is the Paper Industry research line at the Department of Textile and Paper Engineering of the Technical University of Catalonia (UPC). The group’s activities include pulp and paper manufacturing, paper converting and printing, the study of new raw materials and new processes involving pulp and chemical agents, the use of biotechnological techniques, and new printing techniques and the performance of paper.

The UPC working group has been assigned tasks within the following Work Packages of the BIORENEW:

WP1.         Analysis of raw materials and products

SWP4.1     New/Improved cellulose products: functionalisation of cellulosic fibres

SWP4.2     New/Improved cellulose products: Enzymatic delignification

WP7           Training and communication
