Places are allocated on the basis of students’ university entrance marks, i.e. the average mark on a student’s academic record, regardless of the date that appears on the academic record for the university degree that gives access to the master’s degree for which the student has applied. For some master’s degrees, additional academic records will not be taken into account.

The average mark on the academic record is calculated according to what is established in Royal Decree 1267/1994 of 10 June, which amends Royal Decree 1497/1987 of 27 November and sets down the common general guidelines of official university degree curricula, as well as other royal decrees that approve directives for specific courses (Official Spanish Gazette of 11 June 1994).

A minimum number of registered students is required for a master’s degree course to begin.
