Miquel Ortega
Miquel Ortega is a researcher in the Department of Animal Science and Food, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the Universitat Autònoma (UAB) de Barcelona, and consultant at ENT, Environment and Management. His background is in Physics for the Universitat de Barcelona (UB) and Master in Environmental Sciences (ICTA-UAB). He has participated in various research projects, among which Mediterranean Targeted Project-II. Mass Transfer and Ecosystem Response, MTPII-MATER (CICYT); Sustainability Indicators. Study of the Environmental Sustainability Index (Generalitat de Catalunya); Observatory on Debt in Globalization "(Catalan Agency for Cooperation); Search and analysis of international socio-economic indicators to assess the degree of food sovereignty of a country or region (Spanish Cooperation Agency for International Development- AECI); Sustainability indicators at the local level. Situation and improvement proposals for its implementation (Diputación de Barcelona); Environmental Equity in Catalonia. Feasibility of the concept and policy proposals (Advisory Council for Sustainable Development Catalonia - CADS, Generalitat de Catalunya). He has coordinated the research area of Environmental justice and ecological debt, of the Observatory on Debt in Globalization of the UNESCO Chair in Sustainability at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC). Coordinator since 2006 of the Journal Political Ecology. International Journal of debate, with distribution in Spain and Latin America. He has done several studies as a consultant in the field of Food Sovereignty and the environment for several NGOs among which Veterinarians Without Borders and Greenpeace. He has been awarded in several times in the field of environmental communication. He has participated as a teacher in several master courses in the field of environment and cooperation in various spanish universities (Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, Universidad de Granada, Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, Universitat de Barcelona, etc.). He has made more than 40 talks in the past three years for various NGOs, associations, seminars, etc. in the field of cooperation and the environment.
