Professor of Barcelona University since 1988, he has made regular courses of Fishing Economy, Economic Theory, World Economy and Economy of the Development. Lecturer at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Barcelona, since 1983. He has also taught in the Universitat Catalana d'Estiu de Prada, in the University of Perpignan, in the University of Murcia, University of Evora, ENSAR of Rennes, University Menéndez Pelayo, Universidad Carlos III, Universidad de Santiago, etc.

He is director of the Gabinete de Economía del Mar, and adviser of the Generalitat de Catalunya, Generalitat Valenciana and the Secretaría General de Pesca Marítima of the MAPA (Ministerio de Agricultura y Pesca Marítima). He has done research about fisheries in France, Italy, Greece, Portugal, Nicaragua, Rusia, Kazajistan, Moroco, Tunis. He has also worked as adviser in FAO headquarters (Rome).

From 1992 he belongs to the Spanish expert group of the Spanish delegation in the Fisheries Committee in the OCDE. He has participate as a technic of the spanish delegation in the Comittee of Fishing of the OCDE and in the Ad Hoc Expert Group on Fisheries. He has participate in some workshops as the Workshop on Individual Quota Management (1992), Workshop on Enforcement Measures (1993), etc. He is assessor of the DG XIV of the European Comission, and member (from 1997) of the Scientific, Technical and Economical Committee for Fisheries (STECF).
