Orientation Week UPC for international exchange students: February 2013

Introduction
The UPC-Barcelona Tech organizes an Orientation Week for the international exchange students who will begin their studies at UPC on the beginning of February 2013. It includes an institutional welcome, information about legal procedures and about the main Services at UPC that can help students during their stay, introductory workshops “Just Arrived” to the Catalan language and culture, and also some visits to a few Barcelona’s museums.
Dates
This Orientation Week has taken place from February 4th until February 15th , 2013.
It is addressed to international students arriving for a stay at UPC-BarcelonaTech in the second (spring) semester.
There will be two sessions:
- session 1: from 4th until 8th February;
- session 2: from 11th until 15th February.
Choose the one you prefer (depending on your arrival dates and date of beginning of semester) and register.

Additional information about the “Just arrived” Workshops
Special edition of the workshop as part of the UPC's Orientation Week.
This 10-hour workshop enables you to make initial contact with Catalan language and culture, be familiar with the environment where you are going to study, learn basic words and expressions and be able to communicate in common basic situations: say hello, introduce yourself and ask for information.
Highly recommended for those students that have just arrived.
Cost
All these activities are offered by the University and are FREE but the number of places is limited.
Deadline for Registration
The period for registration is from 16th until 30th January 2013 (both included).
Important warning
If you are not sure that you will be able to attend to all the activities of this Orientation Week, or you have to cancel your participation and/or exchange stay, please inform us. You are taking out the possibility of attending to it to another person.
Also note that if you do not attend to one of the activities of the OW, your participation in the rest of the week will be cancelled.
Registration procedure
Find in this paragraph the application form to register in the Orientation Week. You must fill it in and send it before January 30th, this day included to the address: oficina.mobilitat.internacional@upc.edu.
Language
The activities will be organized and held in English groups and Spanish groups.
Where should I go on the first day? Welcome and registration desk
The reception desk will be at "Aula Master" in Campus Nord. There will start all the programme.

Certificate of assistance
In the weeks after the Orientation Week, a "certificate of assistance" will be issued to all international students attending to the 80% or more of all activities.
It is, you must attend to at least the 80% of Campus North activities and also to the 80% of museums visits, if you want to receive the certificate of assistance.
Additional information about the program and groups
The activities performed in Campus Nord of UPC BarcelonaTech will take place mainly in the mornings.
The activities like museum visits will take place on afternoons.
There will be groups in English and groups in Spanish.
These will be notified to students just after registering to the Orientation Week.
Please take into account that for some of the activities there could be subgroups (the number of persons of each one will depend on the capacity of rooms where they will be performed).
Don’t worry about that: you will be clearly informed along the Orientation Week about the subgroup you must join for every activity ; and a reminder of the address of the activity of the next day.
