The Department of Architectural Technology I works in the fields of technical systems and materials; conservation of built-up environments; architecture, energy and services; land policy and valuations; and building construction and the environment. Most of its members act as consultants and collaborators on the design of building projects, serve on committees entrusted with producing reports and formulating standards, write papers and monographs, and contribute to numerous publications.

The Department participates in national and international conferences and several European R&D projects, such as the ARCHISUN-Renewable Energy Sources Implementation under the auspices of the Thermie-B programme. Within the framework of the Altener-II programme, it has also taken part in the project “Preparation of Teaching Materials and the Regulatory Framework for a European Master's Course on the Integration of Renewable Energies in Buildings”.
