The work at the Department of Architectural Representation and Visual Analysis I focuses on the fields of design and architecture, representation processes, computer-assisted visual representation, colour and image theories and visual techniques applied to architecture.

It publishes the EGA journal, a forum for debate and the sharing of opinions on an international scale, and it runs an international conference on the subject of architectural representation and visual analysis in cooperation with other schools in Spain. The Department also carried out research in the Virtual Modelling of the City Laboratory at the School of Architecture of Barcelona (ETSAB), where it also collaborates with the Department of Architectural Technology and the Centre for Land Valuation Policy.

The Department collaborates with the Parramon and Barcanova publishing houses in the publication of drawing textbooks. It also advises the Architects’ Institute of Catalonia (COAC) and the Jordi Capell Architects' Cooperative on computer applications and is part of the Centre for Computer Applications in Architectural and Urban Design (CAIRAT) at the School of Architecture of the Vallès (ETSAV).
