The Department of Physics and Nuclear Engineering is located on the North Campus, although it also has smaller premises on the Sant Cugat, Terrassa and Vilanova i la Geltrú campuses. It conducts research in applied physics at several research facilities. The Terrassa Campus hosts a laser dynamics laboratory, a photonic crystals and non-linear optics laboratory and a dielectric materials physics laboratory, and the Barcelona Campus has a mineral characterisation laboratory and a fusion energy engineering laboratory.
