JEDI (Joves Estudiants d’Informàtica) is a non-profit Junior Enterprise and student association of the UPC (Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya), it is a member of the Spanish and European Confederations of Junior Enterprises (CEJE and JADE). Our aim is to provide students with knowledge beyond what is taught at university.

We are run entirely by students, most of them from the FIB (Facultat d’Informàtica de Barcelona). The members in our organization are inquisitive and have a need to pursue their professional and personal development.

In order to offer complimentary education for students, we carry out different activities.

We offer a variety of courses, twice a year (in January and July, after finals). We have various courses: TDD, HTML, MEAN, Android, Security, Blender, iOS, web design, etc. These courses are usually taught by members of JEDI, or otherwise by external teachers.

What we grant to the members is the chance to get a first impression of what working in a small company is like, without the pressure they would have in a “real world” company. We provide an environment that stimulates teamwork, and a constant flow of new ideas. Occasionally, we organize internal courses and conferences for our members, to expand their capabilities and give them new tools. The content of these workshops is set according to the needs/requests of our members.

Every so often we get hired to do consulting work by external companies. This allows our members to experience what it is like to work in a professional environment (with deadlines, delivering quality products, serious business meetings). However we do not only take on external projects, we also encourage our members to pursue their own ideas.
