Francesc Torres has taken office as rector of the UPC on 3 June, in a ceremony that has been presided over by the minister of Research and Universities, Núria Montserrat. The event has taken place in the lecture hall of the Barcelona School of Architecture (ETSAB).

The inauguration of Francesc Torres as rector of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya - BarcelonaTech (UPC) has been held in the lecture hall of the Barcelona School of Architecture (ETSAB) and has been streamed live on YouTube and UPC Zonavídeo. .
Professor Francesc Torres was elected rector of the UPC in the elections held from 13 to 16 May. An engineer and PhD in Telecommunications from the Barcelona School of Telecommunications Engineering (ETSETB), Torres is a full professor at the same school, where he teaches and conducts research in the fields of radiocommunications, high-frequency circuits and Earth observation.
