What is the Carbon Footprint Challenge?

The Carbon Footprint Challenge is an open innovation initiative that bring forward ideas to reduce our carbon footprint. The Challenge is a Unitech initiative, enabled by the corporate partners with the support of the Unitech community and its academic partners.

with support from the UNITECH International community.

Climate change is a global challenge!

Therefore, the Carbon Footprint Challenge
is something open for students
and young professionals world over.
Good ideas are not restricted
to a certain area.
We want to bring people together
with the same passion
and give them the opportunity
to create strong teams
to develop ideas in collaboration.

Ideas are not born perfect

This is why
the challenge provides
support and the possibility to interact
with experienced professionals
from the industry and academic world.

Prize

The winning team is rewarded with up to CHF 10 000 to support the realization of the idea.

How does it work?

Innovators = your students!

  1. Register on innovation platform - https://carbonfootprintchallenge.org !
  2. The innovators submit their idea to the platform and creates a team.
    If the idea holder does not have a complete team from start, no worries! There is a good chance to find the needed team member on the platform.
  3. The ideas are collaboratively develop with input from experienced professionals from the industry and top universities.
  4. The top five ideas are invited to the final event in Zurich where the teams get coaching and workshops to prepare them for the final pitch. The winning team is rewarded with up to CHF 10 000 to support the realization of the idea!

Timeline

  • 1st of May : Launch
  • 7th July: Idea submission closes
  • 8th-11th July: Top 25 teams to next round
  • 12th July: Development phase opens
  • 28th July: Development phase closes
  • 30th July-2nd August:Top five teams are chosen
  • 5th August: Finalists announcement
  • Beginning of September: Final event!
