The aims of the Girbau Group Chair - UPC of Research and Innovation in Industrial Laundry Technology are research, innovation, knowledge transfer and education in the field of sustainable industrial laundry, particularly through the Industrial Equipment Design Centre (CDEI) of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya · BarcelonaTech (UPC). The Chair initially set out to work on lines of research related to product development processes; research projects on technology applied to capital equipment; projects on innovation, development and products; the joint presentation of projects nationally and internationally; the detection and incorporation of talent; and the creation of instruments for promoting work in common.

The Girbau Group is a consolidated company and global leader in the manufacture of industrial laundry equipment. Its internationalisation began over two decades ago and it currently has four specialised production centres in Spain and France and 11 subsidiaries around the world.
