Ulises Cortés is a Full-Professor and Researcher of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) working on several areas of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the Computer Science including knowledge acquisition for and concept formation in knowledge-based systems, as well as on machine learning and in autonomous intelligent agents. Since 2011 he works with Prof. Pablo Rudomín (CINVESTAV) studying nociceptive mechanisms in mammals. He is the Academic Coordinator for the Inter-universitary Master programme on Artificial Intelligence from 2011. Since 2017 he is AI director at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC).

 

Carles Crosas is PhD Architect and Lecturer at Barcelona School of Architecture (ETSAB) of UPC. Teaching Urbanism at the Department of Urbanism and Regional Planning (since 2001) and Researcher at the Barcelona Laboratory of Urbanism-UPC where he participates in international projects on urban transformation focusing on ecology and metabolism. He is currently Vicedean for International Relations at ETSAB.

 

José Miguel Fernández-Güell. Architect and Urban Planner from Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM). Master of Science and PhD in Urban and Regional Planning from Texas A&M University. He has worked as a consultant for the Inter American Development Bank, the European Commission and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization. Presently, he is Professor and Director of the Urban and Regional Planning Department (UPM). His areas of research interest are strategic planning, foresight studies, urban governance and smart cities.

Xavier Ferre is an associate professor at the Computer Science School at Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM), is Associate Dean for Internationalization at such School since 2016, and researcher at the Center for Biomedical Technology (CTB). His primary research interests are usability and User eXperience (UX) in mobile applications, including their application to the eHealth context. He has been hired as High-End Foreign Expert by the Chinese government for research collaboration with Tongji University, China (2015-2017), working in automated evaluation of mobile UX.

 

Ignacio Gómez is PhD in Aerospace Engineering for Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. Full professor in ETSI Aeronautica y del Espacio of UPM. Director of the drone lab of UPM. He has collaborated in more than 20 research projects, 10 of them as main researcher. Main research areas are: Flight Control Systems for RPAS, RPAS design, Sensor fusion and data analytics. Founding partner of Unmanned Solutions, private company dedicated to the design and manufacturing of fixed wind remotely piloted aircraft systems. He also is a founding partner of Eris Innovation, private company dedicated to advanced algorithms for data science and  machine learning.

 

Felipe Jiménez obtained his Master Degree in Industrial Engineering from the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid(UPM), his Master Degree in Physical Science from the National University of Distance Education of Spain and his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the UPM in 2001,2005 and 2006, respectively. Currently, he is Associate Professor at the UPM and Head of the Intelligent Systems Unit of the University Institute for Automobile Research of the UPM. He has been involved in several research projects and has developed engineering studies for relevant national firms. His fields of interest are the automotive industry, vehicle safety, mechanical design, driver assistance systems and intelligent transport systems. He is author of several papers in relevant scientific journals and has participated in several national and international congresses.

Ramon Pallas-Areny is a Professor of Electronic Engineering at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya - BarcelonaTech (UPC) since 1989. He is author or co-author of more than 20 books on sensors and instrumentation electronics in Catalan, Spanish, English and Chinese, and of about 330 papers published in scientific journals or conferences. He has also supervised 25 Ph. D. theses. He is an inventor in 28 patents, 6 of them international and commercially exploited. He has directed three R&D projects that yielded commercial products, and in the last 5 years has been Technical Manager in two projects funded by the European Union (7FP).

 

Josep Paradells Aspas is professor at the UPC and director or the Fundació i2CAT a research center working in the area of Internet its applications. He has been working in the area of smart cities since 2007 when he participated in the first pilot in Spain. He has been developing alternative methods on getting information from cities and citizens based on the different types of IoT devices.

 

Pablo Royo is a Telecommunications Engineer from the UPC. He also holds a Ph.D. in Computer Architecture from the same university. Dr. Royo has been working with UPC since 2006 and currently, he is an associate professor at the School of Telecommunications and Aerospace Engineering of Castelldefels. He co-founded the ICARUS research group and his research interests include the integration of UAS into non-segregated airspace and the UAS new software and hardware architectures. Dr. Royo has more than 50 publications in this field.

 

Daniel Serra is an industrial engineer from Universitat Politècnica de Valencia (UPV). Over 15 years in Automotive Industry in tasks of Project Management with demonstrated leadership strengths and proven ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment with critical deadlines, always working in development projects with different OEM (Ford, Volvo, Land Rover, SEAT, VW, Daimler). From 2009 to 2011 Executive MBA from ESADE. Since May 2015 he is Project Manager of CARNET.

 

Sergio Zlotnik is associate professor at UPC and former delegate at Sino-Spanish campus at Tongji. He is currently participating at the High-End Foreign Experts programme of the Chinese government for research collaboration with Tongji University in the area of Computational Geodynamics. At UPC he is director of an Erasmus Mundus master and a Erasmus Mundus doctoral programmes in Computational Mechanics.
