The ShanghaiRanking’s Global Ranking of Academic Subjects lists the world’s top institutions in 54 disciplines. It analyses five indicators focused on research and international recognition of academic staff. 

Institutions must have a minimum number of publications in Web of Science for the 2016-2020 period, which ranges from 25 to 300 publications depending on the area. The number of institutions ranked varies depending on the list, from a minimum of 50 up to a maximum of 500. In the 2022 edition, more than 1,800 universities have made it onto one or more lists of the Ranking.

The UPC is ranked in 25 lists, and in four of them it is ranked among the world’s 100 best universities.
