The 2017 edition of the ShanghaiRanking’s Global Ranking of Academic Subjects has been published

The UPC has been ranked in 18 subjects in the 2017 edition of the ShanghaiRanking’s Global Ranking of Academic Subjects.

The second edition of the ShanghaiRanking’s Global Ranking of Academic Subjects has been published, although the changes between the first edition and the current one make a comparison between the two impossible: the indicators have changed, and so have the reference bibliographic databases, and the number of disciplines has increased from 7 to fifty-two.

In this edition, the Ranking analyses five indicators, four that measure the quantity and quality of the research published in the Web of Science and one that refers to outstanding awards.

The UPC has been ranked in 18 areas, in eight of these among the world’s top 75: Instrumental Sciences & Technology (8th), Telecommunication Engineering (24th), Remote Sensing (39th), Water Resources (50th), Computer Science & Engineering (50th), Electrical & Electronic Engineering (in the 51-75 band) and Automation & Control (in the 51-75 band).
