CSC–UPC Scholarships

For full PhD programmes and visiting PhD research stays 2026–2027

The China Scholarship Council (CSC) and the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), in accordance with the principles of equality and mutual benefit, have established a collaborative arrangement to offer high-quality research opportunities to qualified students from Chinese universities and research institutions, with the aim of fostering academic cooperation.

CSC will support selected students from Chinese institutions providing up to 30 scholarships for full PhD studies and up to 30 scholarships for visiting PhD research stays per academic year. Students undertaking a visiting PhD research stay of at least 24 months may apply for joint PhD supervision through a separate cotutelle agreement.

Requeriments

  1. Candidates should be citizens of the People’s Republic of China. Overseas Chinese students may be eligible for application subject to CSC policy at the time.
  2. Candidates should hold an unconditional offer letter from UPC. Therefore, they should fulfil the relevant academic entry requirements set by UPC, including a high level of English language proficiency.
  3. Candidates should satisfy other application criteria set out by CSC.
  4. Successful candidates acknowledge that they should return to China upon completion of their studies through the programme.
