Two projects coordinated by the UPC receive funding from the T.I.M.E. Association university network
Apr 03, 2025
Seven projects have been selected in the latest call from the T.I.M.E. Association, of which two are coordinated by UPC and a third one participates. Each project receives €10,000 in funding for one year.
Every year, T.I.M.E. launches a call to co-finance regional, national, or international projects, whether new or existing. The selected projects must have a long-term impact on the T.I.M.E. network, with priorities such as student and alumni participation, curricular compatibility, collaboration with non-academic organizations, and support for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Selected projects coordinated by UPC
In the 2025 call, the T.I.M.E. Association has selected the following projects coordinated by our institution:
Remote Web Lab for the Linearization of B5G Transmitters:
This project, led by Pere L. Gilabert, a professor at the School of Telecommunications and Aerospace Engineering in Castelldefels (EETAC) and a researcher in the Department of Signal Theory and Communications (TSC), aims to develop a remote WebLab for linearizing power amplifiers through digital predistortion techniques, thereby improving signal fidelity and energy efficiency. Additionally, the project includes organizing a Hackathon to encourage research and collaborative learning.
This project involves the participation of the Politecnico di Torino, Italy, and RWTH Aachen, Germany.
Interculturality in Mobility programs through virtual environments (COIL and BIP):
The IMPROVE project, led by professors Elisabet Arnó Macia, Marta Aguilar Pérez, and Balbina Moncada from the Department of Theory and History of Architecture and Communication Techniques, seeks to create an adaptable framework for virtual environments in engineering education, with the goal of enhancing intercultural communication competence in COIL (Collaborative Online International Learning) and BIP (Blended Intensive Programs). The project is based on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), designing activities that promote better international and cultural integration.
This project is in collaboration with KTH, Sweden, and TU Darmstadt, Germany.
Other projects with UPC participation
In addition to the projects coordinated by UPC, the university participates in the Bridging Curricula: Mapping Compatibility for International Academic Collaboration project, coordinated by Wroclaw Tech, Poland, with the participation of TU Darmstadt, Germany.
This project aims to promote the creation of joint master’s programs and prepare consortia to apply for EU calls in the field of higher education. UPC participates through Prof. Joan M. Gené, Deputy Director of International Relations at the Higher Technical School of Telecommunications Engineering in Barcelona (ETSETB).
About the T.I.M.E. Association
The T.I.M.E. Association (Top International Managers in Engineering) is an international network of leading technical universities and engineering schools, founded in 1989. Its members are committed to international cooperation, student exchanges, and the recognition of studies abroad. Currently, T.I.M.E. has 57 members in 25 countries. UPC is a member of T.I.M.E., which provides an exceptional platform for the development of joint projects and international dual degrees.
