The UPC is running COVID-19 testing for staff and students. Tests are being done at no cost and for the purpose of monitoring infections.

Apr 14, 2021

The Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya · BarcelonaTech (UPC) is offering free voluntary COVID-19 tests to unvaccinated students, teaching staff and administrative staff who are asymptomatic. Tests are designed to identify asymptomatic infections or past infections and will be conducted on UPC campuses on the following dates:

Those wishing to take the test on these campuses need to self-collect a saliva sample at least 2 hours before eating and deliver it without an appointment to the collaborating healthcare staff. The staff will transport the samples daily for analysis and report the results to the Ministry of Health of the Government of Catalonia. See the instructions (PDF) and the video on how to self-collect saliva samples.

  • Manresa Campus: from 13 to 15 April, from 8.30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 3.30 p.m. to 7 p.m., and on 16 April, from 8.30 a.m. to 2 p.m., in the FUB1 building on the UVic-UCC Manresa Campus (Avinguda Universitària, 4-6). Access via the Plaça Cívica (between the FUB1 building and the University Clinic building). It is necessary to book a test.

  • Terrassa Campus: from 14 to 16 April, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and also from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on 15 April, in the multipurpose room of the Terrassa School of Industrial, Aerospace and Audiovisual Engineering (ESEIAAT), TR5 building. It is necessary to book a test.
  • Baix Llobregat Campus: from 20 to 22 April, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., in the Campus building (D7), in front of the bar.
  • Vilanova i la Geltrú Campus: from 26 to 28 April, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., in the lobby of the Vilanova i la Geltrú School of Engineering (EPSEVG).

On these campuses self-administered PCR tests and/or serology tests using capillary blood will be offered, also with the collaboration of healthcare staff. It is up to everyone to take just one of the tests or both. Watch the video on how to self-administer the test.

Tests on UPC campuses are being conducted according to the programming for Catalan universities of the Ministry of Health of the Government of Catalonia. Results will be available in the personal digital space La Meva Salut. Those wishing to take the test need to bring their CatSalut health card, DNI or passport.

University community members can get tested at any of the testing sites. If you live far from the University, you can go to your closest testing site, even if it is at another university. You just need to bring your health card or DNI.

These actions are part of the Ministry of Health’s strategy to control the pandemic in the coming weeks and to restore a sense of normality to universities and society in general in the mid-term.

They are also part of the range of measures that are being implemented by the University to fight the pandemic within the campaign The UPC, protected. In late 2020, the University already started offering COVID-19 rapid testing on the North Campus, in Barcelona, in collaboration with the Sant Joan de Déu Hospital.

We will continue to update the information available.
