- Barcelona’s Espai Imagina hosts ‘Codi Gaudí’, an immersive experience exploring Antoni Gaudí’s unbuilt projects. Organised by Grup Mediapro and the UPC’s Gaudí Chair, the initiavie combines immersive technology with academic research to offer a new perspective on Gaudí’s work.

- On 22 September at 6 p.m. the UPC and the Barcelona School of Civil Engineering will launch the new 2026–2027 academic year with a cantata in the Auditorium of the Vèrtex building on the North Diagonal Campus in Barcelona, paying tribute to engineer and urban planner Ildefons Cerdà. The event will also feature addresses by political and academic representatives.

- A study by the UPC’s Vision, Optometry and Health research group shows that children aged 8 to 12 experience an average annual increase of 0.29 dioptres, with prevalence rising from 12.3% to 28.7%. The research highlights the influence of family socioeconomic status on this increase and warns that girls are a high-risk group due to faster ocular growth progression compared to boys.

- MARIA is a portable, flexible, radiation-free prototype device designed to improve early breast cancer detection. It has been developed by a research team linked to the UPC’s Barcelona East School of Engineering (EEBE). The device identifies tumours using electrical conductivity, with the ultimate goal of being deployed in primary care settings.

- The Spanish Research Agency (AEI) has awarded grants totalling €749,992 to four UPC projects to acquire state-of-the-art scientific and technical equipment. The new equipment will strengthen the University’s capabilities in strategic fields such as artificial intelligence, nanoscience, hydrogen and supercomputing.

- The European Research Council (ERC) has awarded researcher Edgardo Saucedo, from the UPC’s Micro and Nanotechnologies for Solar Energy Group (MNT-Solar), a Proof of Concept grant worth €150,000. This funding will enable him to develop a reactor that accelerates molecule synthesis and makes synthetic fuel production more efficient, paving the way for its industrial scale-up.
