Statement regarding the gale warning for 12 February
The UPC has issued the following statement regarding the activation of the Special Emergency Plan for Wind Risk in Catalonia (VENTCAT) across Catalonia.

The Resolution of the Ministry of Home Affairs and Public Safety of 11 February has established restrictions due to the activation of the Special Emergency Plan for Wind Risk in Catalonia (VENTCAT) across Catalonia, including the following.
- From midnight until 8 p.m. on 12 February 2026, the following prohibitions or restrictions apply:
1.1 Avoid unnecessary travel.
1.2 Apply telework in all areas in which it is possible.
1.3 Suspend educational, sports and university activities, including the activities of affiliated schools and university research centres.
1.4 Suspend the activity of basic and specialised social services.
1.5 Suspend non-urgent healthcare activity.
1.6 Suspend activities in outdoor spaces, parks and urban gardens.
The Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya - BarcelonaTech (UPC) states that these instructions must be followed and precautions taken. As a result, on Thursday 12 February there will be no teaching activity and all other non-essential activities have been cancelled. Telework is established for all UPC staff and UPC campuses will be closed. In the case of essential activities, access to the buildings is as for a public holiday.
