The UPC among the three best Spanish universities according to the 2021 U-Multirank
In the 2021 edition of U-Multirank, a European Commission initiative to provide a multidimensional view of universities, the UPC moves up and is ranked as one of the top three Spanish universities.

In the 2021 edition of U-Multirank, the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya · BarcelonaTech (UPC) has 13 indicators with the highest score (A) and is ranked as one of the top three Spanish universities, behind the Pompeu Fabra University (UPF) and sharing the second position with the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid.
Five major dimensions are analysed by the ranking. The UPC continues to stand out in Regional Engagement, in which it has achieved the maximum score in the indicators that assess regional publications with industrial partners, bachelor’s and master’s degree graduates working in the region and the percentage of regional joint publications. In Research, the University has achieved the highest score in two indicators, which refer to the percentage of interdisciplinary publications and the number of publications in relation to the number of students; in Knowledge Transfer, in the percentage of publications with industrial partners and publications cited in patents; in International Orientation, in student mobility and the number of foreign doctoral degree graduates; and in Teaching and Learning, in gender equity.
U-Multirank is a university ranking promoted by the European Union that compares more than 1,900 universities in 97 countries based on a range of indicators on five major dimensions: Teaching and Learning, Research, Knowledge Transfer, International Orientation and Regional Engagement.
