The Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya - BarcelonaTech (UPC) continues to be the top Spanish university in Knowledge Transfer according to the latest edition of the CYD Ranking, published by the CYD Foundation. Considering institutions’ overall results, the UPC also stands out in Regional Engagement—sharing the top position with five other universities—and in International Orientation, in which it is ranked among the top positions.

In addition to the overall institutional results, the 2023 CYD Ranking has for the first time included the field of Journalism and Communication and has updated the information on degrees in Social Sciences and Earth Sciences and Geology. In the rankings by field and considering its course catalogue, this year the UPC has only contributed data from the Earth Sciences field, in which it has achieved outstanding results and is ranked among the top 3 Spanish universities.

The STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) fields were last updated in the 2022 edition, in which the UPC achieved remarkable results, such as the first position in Computer Engineering, Physics and Civil Engineering.

The CYD Ranking analyses a wide range of indicators for Spanish universities to measure and compare their performance in five major dimensions: Teaching and Learning, Research, Knowledge Transfer, International Orientation and Regional Engagement. The 2023 edition of the ranking analyzes 80 Spanish universities—48 of which are public—29 areas of knowledge and 3,266 degrees. This allows for universities to be analyzed overall and by areas of knowledge in which the degrees are grouped.
