Biography

Ivan Planas Miret

Ivan Planas has a degree in Economics and Business from the Pompeu Fabra University (UPF) and a master’s degree in Public Economics from the University of York (United Kingdom). He has extensive experience in the field of public management.

From September 2021 until the present he was the assistant director of the Government of Catalonia’s Health Service, at which he was formerly the director of the Economic Area and the manager of Public Companies and Consortia.

He was also the general manager of Public Finance Analysis and Monitoring at the Government of Catalonia’s Ministry of Economy and Knowledge.

Some of the highlights of his career are the research he carried out as a researcher and administrator at the UPF’s Centre for Research in Health and Economics (CRES) and his participation in European research projects in the area of public economics and public policy evaluation. He is the author of a number of articles in journals and books.

In the field of governance, Ivan Planas has been a member of the governing bodies of public entities such as the Catalan Health Service, the Hospital Clínic de Barcelona, the MAR Health Park, the Healthcare Management Foundation of the Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau and the Blood and Tissue Bank. He is currently a member of the Board of Governors of the Association of Economists of Catalonia.

As a teacher, he is an adjunct professor of Applied Economics at the UPF’s Department of Economics and Business and a professor on the master’s degree in Public Administration (UPF-UAB-UB) and the master’s degree in Regional and Local Tax Administration at the University of Barcelona (UB). In 1998 he was also an adjunct professor at the UPC, in the Department of Management.
