Biography

Agustín Fernández is an associate professor at the Department of Computer Architecture. He has undergraduate and doctoral degrees in Informatics Engineering from the UPC. He teaches courses in the architecture and structure of computers and graphics processors (GPUs) at the Barcelona School of Informatics. He has also taught at the ETSETB and the EPSEVG.

He carries out research in the High-Performance Computing Group (CAP). His topics of interest are memory hierarchy, compilers for high performance architectures, GPUs and GPU parallel applications. He has also been closely involved in education, sustainability, ethics and social engagement in informatics degrees. He is the co-author of several articles in prestigious journals and conferences on these topics.
He was the academic secretary of the Department of Computer Architecture in two stages (1995-1998 and 2001-2005), the director of the Department of Computer Architecture (2011-2017) and the vice-rector for Digital Transformation of the UPC (2017-2021).
